Sanu’s trainer Hilton Alexander told ESPN’s Mike Reiss that Sanu is “probably faster, quicker, leaner, and in better shape now than prior to the surgery,” adding that the veteran receiver is “way ahead of the curve” of where doctors would say he should be. Sanu recently posted a video of himself running routes uphill at full speed, and he doesn’t look like someone that underwent ankle surgery earlier this offseason. Alexander also added that his client is “faster than he’s ever been” and is “training like he has something to prove.” It sounds like Sanu will fit right in during his first full season with the Patriots on a chip-on-the-shoulder team looking to prove they can still contend without Tom Brady at quarterback.

Andy Dalton is signing with the Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This is out of nowhere, as the Jaguars were heavily rumored as a potential destination that would reunite Dalton with former offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, but the former TCU Horned Frog will go back to the state of Texas to join one of the NFL’s top franchises. Dak Prescott is fully expected to report to the team and play at some point, even if he does not agree to a long-term extension with Dallas by the July deadline, but Dalton gives the Cowboys excellent insurance and upgrades their quarterback room with a strong veteran presence in the backup spot for a team looking to take the next step under Super Bowl winning head coach Mike McCarthy.

A.J. Green officially signed his franchise tag.
This was basically just a formality, but it means that Green will be indeed reporting for training camp later this month. The Pro Bowl receiver missed all of last season, but he’s set to make around $18 million on the franchise tag (so the Bengals will obviously want to use him) and will look to earn a long-term contract this season. Green notably says that he wants to “play another four years and I hope to retire as a Bengal.”

Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell wants Jared Goff to take ownership of the offense.
O’Connell says of the fifth-year quarterback, “There’s a layer going into his fifth year, his fourth year in the offense, of ownership, where you feel strongly about presenting him with a plan where he could truly have some ownership, while also understanding at the end of the day, it’s just about being great with the details of doing his job.” While Goff’s numbers took a step back last season while playing behind an offensive line that really struggled to protect him for most of the year, the former No. 1 overall pick has shown he can play quarterback at a very high level—and it sounds like LA wants Goff to take a step into that bonafide elite category of passers. The Rams offensive line came together down the stretch in 2019 (when Goff threw 11 touchdowns and four interceptions in December), and the Cal product obviously has great upside in Sean McVay’s offense if there’s consistent play up front.

The Bengals are declining John Ross’ fifth-year option, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Cincinnati just drafted Clemson receiver Tee Higgins at the top of the second round, so this is not a big surprise for the former No. 9 overall pick. Tyler Boyd remains under contract long-term for the Bengals, but both Ross and Pro Bowler A.J. Green (on the franchise tag) are entering contract years as things stand. Ross is still a favorite to start at receiver for the Bengals this season after averaging 18.1 yards per reception in 2019, and he’ll look to play well and earn a lucrative contract with Cincinnati or another team next offseason.
