Join now >The Saints signed Ty Montgomery, according to NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill.
Montgomery is a versatile weapon that Sean Payton will look to utilize in the running back group. As a former receiver, Montgomery can do some of the things star runner Alvin Kamara does, so he’s certainly someone to keep in mind as a potential handcuff option to Kamara this season.

The Bears are signing Ted Ginn Jr., according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Ginn figures to slot right into the role Taylor Gabriel player in Matt Nagy’s offense over the past couple of seasons, so the veteran receiver could offer some boom/bust FLEX upside in 2020. Chicago will be Ginn’s sixth team since going in the first round of the 2007 draft, and this season will be his age-35 campaign.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys did not agree to a long-term contract before today’s deadline.
Dallas obviously wants Prescott long-term, and they reportedly offered him over $100 million guaranteed on an extension. However, the word is that Prescott wanted a shorter four-year deal to cash in on a second massive extension earlier than a longer deal would allow him to. It seems that Prescott is content to go the Kirk Cousins route and play multiple years on the franchise tag if necessary, and he can’t feel bad about getting well over $30 million per year as long as he continues on the tag. From a fantasy perspective, Dak is a surefire QB1 this season in his first year under new head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Chargers are picking up Mike Williams’ fifth-year option, according to multiple reports.
This was another easy one, as Williams has emerged as an excellent weapon for the Chargers, catching ten touchdowns in 2018 before putting up his first 1,000-yard campaign (while averaging 20.4 yards per reception) last season. The Chargers will likely hammer out an extension with Williams in some point over the next couple of years, but he’s now officially under contract through 2021.

The Seahawks re-signed Geno Smith, according to multiple reports.
Smith is again set to be the backup quarterback for Seattle behind Russell Wilson this season. Cam Newton, who has reportedly maintained that he will only take a starting job only, has been speculated as someone that could land with the Seahawks if he does not get a starting gig by the time the season begins. Things can change, but this probably makes a Newton signing less likely.

The Bengals are releasing Andy Dalton, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Dalton probably would have preferred for this to happen before the start of free agency, but Cincinnati was hoping to get a draft pick in exchange for their former starting quarterback during draft weekend. Now, Dalton is free to sign with any team as an experienced veteran option. The two destinations that stand out as potential places for Dalton to compete for a starting job are New England (after the Patriots did not add another quarterback in the draft) and Jacksonville (with Dalton’s former offensive coordinator Jay Gruden), but the 32-year-old might have to settle for a backup role for now. In nine seasons with the Bengals, Dalton threw for 31,594 yards, 204 touchdowns, and 118 interceptions while going 70-61-2 as a regular season starter but going 0-4 in the postseason.

Derrick Henry is closing in on a long-term extension with the Titans, according to multiple reports.
Both NFL Network and ESPN are reporting that Henry is close to finalizing an extension with Tennessee, and we should have official word before the 4 PM ET deadline. The move—no matter what the dollar amount and years—makes sense for both sides, as Henry is one of the most important players in the league, and he will now get long-term security as the Titans hope to make another jump in 2020.
