Todd Gurley | Free Agent RB

Todd Gurley says he’s worked out more than ever this offseason.

In a YouTube video with Victor Cruz, Odell Beckham Jr., and Cam Newton, Gurley said, “I’m not even going to lie, I haven’t worked out this much in my life. I mean, [there] literally hasn’t been nothing to do but work out.” The former Rams superstar running back has seemingly taken advantage of quarantine throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and he should be in tip-top shape in 2020. It’s also probably a good sign for his knees that Gurley says he’s been working out as much as ever, and the injury concerns are probably overblown at this point. Gurley will turn just 26 next month and will be extremely motivated this season.

Mitchell Trubisky | Bills QB

The Bears are declining Mitchell Trubisky’s fifth-year option, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Trubisky will be under contract with the Bears in 2020 and then be able to hit free agency—which could set him up for a nice payday in Chicago or someplace else if he’s able to beat out Nick Foles and have a successful season. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft has gone 23-18 in three years (including 19-10 under Matt Nagy), so the criticism of him has certainly been overblown for the most part. The Bears should be in good hands no matter who is under center come Week 1.

Christian McCaffrey | 49ers RB

Fantasy player analytics have been updated for the 2020 season.

With the NFL schedule out and most of the offseason moves completed, our biggest analytics update is complete after adding rookies to the mix. You can sign up for Fantasy Consigliere in the link below, but Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey leads the way with six 99 ratings among the eight analytical categories. McCaffrey is the consensus No. 1 overall player in 2020 fantasy drafts.

Leonard Fournette | Free Agent RB

The Jaguars are not picking up Leonard Fournette’s fifth-year option, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Fournette is on the trade block, so this is not a surprise. The former No. 4 overall pick is now in a contract year as he looks to prove he can be a consistent top performer and one of the best running backs the league. Fournette had 341 touches in 2020.

Derrick Henry | Ravens RB

The Titans are signing Derrick Henry to a four-year, $50-million extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The deal will include $25.5 million guaranteed, so the numbers are actually somewhat favorable for Tennessee considering a) what Henry means to their offense, and b) how much Christian McCaffrey got from Carolina earlier this year (four years, $64 million). Still, the former Heisman winner should be more comfortable not playing on a one-year deal, and it’s good to see him get paid big money for what he’s accomplished as the team’s workhorse. Henry should again see 300+ touches this season, and he’s worth considering as a top-five pick in 0.5 PPR/standard leagues this summer.

Chris Thompson | Free Agent RB

The Jaguars are signing Chris Thompson, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Thompson lands in probably his best destination to make an impact, as he’ll rejoin his former Redskins head coach Jay Gruden (now the offensive coordinator for Jacksonville). Gruden knows how to use Thompson as a weapon out of the backfield, and the veteran running back is on the fantasy radar in PPR leagues in particular. With Leonard Fournette’s standing with the Jags uncertain, Thompson could certainly have a large role in 2020.

Cody Latimer | Free Agent WR

Cody Latimer’s lawyer releases statement.

To update the situation, Latimer’s lawyer Harvey Steinberg said of his client’s arrest for second-degree assault and illegal use of a firearm: “There’s an entire back story to this situation that constitutes one of the most highly provocative situations you can imagine. Please withhold judgment until all the facts of what took place that night are known.” This process is set to play out in the legal system, but the NFL has shown they will come down hard on players and executives that do not live up to the standard of the league after their own investigations into off-field matters.
