This is great to hear after it was uncertain how much time Mahomes would miss after the ugly injury suffered last night. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and James Palmer report that the MRI on Mahomes’ knee confirmed a dislocated kneecap, “but not significant additional damage”. The star quarterback is set to get additional opinions, but he’s fully expected to return at some point this season. There isn’t much history of players returning from dislocated kneecaps to go off of, but Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford missed just a few weeks when he suffered a similar injury in 2009. The Chiefs have a late Week 12 bye week, so perhaps a target return date for the reigning league MVP could be a December 1 matchup with the Raiders in Week 13, which could be a critical game in the AFC West—both the player and the team certainly shouldn’t rush this if it could risk further injury. You should obviously hold Mahomes on your fantasy roster unless you desperately need roster space. With Mahomes out, the fantasy value of Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and the entire Chiefs offense probably takes a hit.

The Giants waived Alex Tanney.
The Giants needed roster space to promote running back Austin Walter from the practice squad for tonight’s game in Foxboro. Tanney is probably a good bet to return to the Giants at some point soon if another team doesn’t pick him up.

Sterling Shepard (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 7.
This was fully expected with Shepard dealing with his second concussion of the season already. Shepard should be considered week-to-week for now, and hopefully he’s feeling better soon. Hold Shepard on your fantasy roster if you can.

The Giants re-signed Bennie Fowler.
Fowler was recently released to create roster space, but he’s back with the Giants and can immediately step back into a role on offense. The veteran receiver is not a recommended fantasy pickup at the moment.

Marquise Brown (ankle) officially did not practice today.
Brown is looking doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, but we’ll see how he’s listed on the final Week 7 injury report when it’s released sometime tomorrow.

The Giants promoted Austin Walter from the practice squad.
With Saquon Barkley (ankle) and Wayne Gallman (concussion) out for tonight’s Week 6 game against the Patriots, the Giants needed another player at running back. Walter is an undrafted rookie from Rice that signed with the Niners earlier this year, and he’ll be an interesting player to watch as he gets his first opportunity on an NFL active roster on Thursday Night Football.

UPDATE: The Chiefs have ruled Patrick Mahomes out for the rest of tonight with a knee injury.
This obviously isn’t good news, and it appears Mahomes is dealing with a serious knee injury. Before leaving tonight’s game, Mahomes 10/11 for 76 yards and a touchdown. Matt Moore is taking over at quarterback for the Chiefs for the rest of tonight, and potentially for the remainder of the season. More information on Mahomes’ injury should be available in the next 24-48 hours. We just have to hope it’s not as bad as it appears for the reigning league MVP.
