Smith-Schuster gained seven yards on his lone reception against the Chargers, and it came late in the game on a quick slant. On the first play for the Steelers, they had a shot at Smith-Schuster for a big play on a deep ball, but it was underthrown and he could not come up with it—and the team did not want to open up their passing attack much with undrafted rookie Devlin Hodges making his first career start. Pittsburgh’s offense ran through James Conner and the rushing attack, with Smith-Schuster doing little damage. It’s refreshing to see JuJu be a huge team player that won’t make noise and complain about a lack of passes going his way, especially with his team getting a big win—but he of course won’t get fantasy points for that. The Steelers now have their bye week before facing the Dolphins in Week 8, and it’d be a plus for Smith-Schuster if Mason Rudolph (concussion) is back in the lineup. From a statistical and fantasy perspective, there probably isn’t a player that’s had worse luck than JuJu so far this season after Ben Roethlisberger’s season-ending elbow injury.

Patrick Mahomes leaves game with apparent leg injury.
On a fourth-and-short deep in Denver territory, Mahomes attempted a quarterback sneak and appeared to suffer a right knee injury. He was immediately staying on the ground and pointing to his knee like he knew something was wrong, and a replay appeared to show his knee getting popped back into place. A cart initially came out for Mahomes, but he instead walked to the locker room with help from trainers. Mahomes appeared to be walking pretty smoothly when he got into the tunnel, so hopefully this isn’t as serious as it looked at first. Matt Moore is now in the game for the Chiefs.

The Bears signed Tyler Bray to the practice squad.
This was expected to happen after the Bears released Bray. If Mitchell Trubisky (left shoulder) still isn’t ready after the bye, Bray will be brought back up to the active roster.

Malcolm Brown (ankle) officially did not practice today.
Brown has missed the last two practices with the ankle injury suffered in Week 6, and he’s looking iffy for this weekend’s game versus the Falcons. Especially with Todd Gurley looking set to return from his thigh contusion, it won’t be surprising if Brown is ruled out tomorrow.

Sam Darnold plays well in return from mono.
In his first game back after missing the last three games, Darnold led the Jets to an upset home win over the Cowboys. Darnold was 23/32 for 338 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, as the New York offense looked a lot different with their franchise player at quarterback. There were guys running wide open at times against a Dallas defense that struggled, but Darnold looked comfortable and sharp in Adam Gase’s offense. Darnold isn’t immediately a strong QB1 fantasy option (especially in Week 7 against the Patriots), but his presence is clearly a boost for the entire Jets offense.

Todd Gurley (thigh contusion) remains limited in practice.
Two straight limited practices for Gurley to start the week is a good sign, and he’s trending towards playing this Sunday after missing last week’s game. We’ll let you know how the star running back is listed on the final Week 7 injury report when it’s released tomorrow.

Chris Herndon (hamstring) is expected to miss two weeks, according to Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says that Herndon suffered a Grade 1 strain while practicing on his own last Friday, and he will miss Week 6 and “likely” Week 7, which is a definite blow to fantasy owners that spent a top waiver claim on him. It’s also damaging to the Jets offense, as they will be down one of their top playmakers while looking to climb out of an 0-4 hole. Herndon is worth holding onto with tight end looking extremely thin, but you can drop him if you need a roster spot.
