Nick Foles | Free Agent QB

Matt Nagy told reporters he won’t publicly announce a starting quarterback before the opener.

Chicago doesn’t want to tip their hand against the rival Lions in Week 1, which is a wise move—though it will be interesting to see if the decision leaks when eventually made. Nick Foles is thought to be the favorite ahead of Mitchell Trubisky, but it’s pretty much a coin flip, so neither guy will be highly recommended in normal drafts over the next week. That said, the schedule for the Bears looks favorable, and whoever is under center could certainly have streaming appeal in 2020.

Trey Burton | Free Agent TE

Trey Burton has a calf strain.

Burton limped off earlier today during the Colts’ scrimmage, and head coach Frank Reich indicates that he’s going to miss a bit of time because of the injury. Burton has unfortunately had trouble staying healthy in recent years. Consider the versatile tight end week-to-week for now, but he’s likely to miss multiple regular season games.

Paul Richardson | Free Agent WR

The Seahawks signed Paul Richardson, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Richardson spent the past two seasons in Washington, but he spent the first four years of his career with the Seahawks after Seattle took him in the second round of the 2014 draft. So Richardson already has familiarity and could have a role as a deep threat; but overall, he’s not a recommended fantasy selection or pickup in standard-sized leagues at the moment.

Donte Moncrief | Texans WR

The Jets are signing Donte Moncrief, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

New York is thin at receiver with rookie Denzel Mims missing time due to a hamstring injury, and Moncrief is still just a young 27 (his birthday was earlier this month). That said, the veteran isn’t a lock to stick around into the regular season and is unlikely to make a significant fantasy impact if he does.

Will Hastings | Free Agent WR

The Patriots waived Will Hastings.

Hastings might have been hurt by former college teammate Jarrett Stidham falling slightly behind the quarterback competition due to injury. Anyway, Hastings figures to be on New England’s radar in the future if available (the practice squad could be where he lands this season).

George Kittle | 49ers TE

George Kittle has hamstring tightness.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan says there’s no strain, just tightness, so it doesn’t sound like a big deal. Kittle tends to play through minor injuries, and his Week 1 status is in little doubt. However, this situation is something to keep in mind for a player going early in fantasy drafts.

8/28/20 - 03:28 PM ET

J.J. Nelson | Free Agent WR

J.J. Nelson (knee) is expected to miss two-to-four weeks.

Nelson is yet another wideout injured for San Francisco, who is hoping to have Deebo Samuel (foot) and Brandon Aiyuk (hamstring) ready for Week 1. We could see a very healthy target share for George Kittle early in the season.
