Join now >The Cardinals are acquiring Kenyan Drake, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Miami is reportedly receiving a conditional 2020 draft pick in exchange for Drake. The versatile running back was fully expected to be traded after not making the trip for tonight’s game against the Steelers, and he lands with a Cardinals team that’s dealing with injuries to David Johnson (ankle) and Chase Edmonds (hamstring). Drake has arguably been underutilized during his three-plus seasons in the NFL with the Dolphins, and it’ll be interesting to see how Kliff Kingsbury uses him in his air raid offense. Drake had 333 carries for 1,532 yards (4.6 average) and nine touchdowns along with 116 receptions for 936 yards and six touchdowns with the Dolphins. When Johnson gets back on the field, it looks like he’ll be in more of a committee backfield. If DJ and Edmonds are both out this Thursday night, Drake could immediately get a sizable workload against the 49ers on Halloween.

A.J. Green (ankle) was officially limited in today’s practice.
Green throttled his return back a bit with his practice activity last week, but a limited practice to start this week is a good sign. He might need to practice fully tomorrow for a chance to play in Week 8, though.

Damien Williams finally gets work at the end of Week 8.
Williams was basically non-existent for most of the game against the Packers, with LeSean McCoy starting and receiving most of the snaps with Darrel Williams mixing in behind him on third downs more than Damien Williams. But a McCoy fumble late in the third quarter opened things up for Damien to take control of the backfield in the fourth quarter, and he flashed the play that made him a star down the stretch and in the playoff last season. Williams carried seven times for 30 yards and a touchdown, doing his damage in the fourth quarter while McCoy was benched and on the sideline. Andy Reid’s love for McCoy might lead to the veteran running back reassuming control of the starting role like nothing happened while Williams gets sent back to the reserve role he played for most of the last two weeks, but Williams clearly looks like the better player at this point, as he runs with power and moves forward for positive yardage while also having the versatility to make key plays as a receiver and pass protector—and he was a major factor in the offense while it made a deep postseason run less than a year ago. Again, McCoy might still be the top option in the Kansas City offense, but Williams is certainly worth an add in any leagues he’s available in.

Aaron Jones goes off as a receiver in Week 8.
Jones carried 13 times for 67 yards and added seven receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns in Green Bay’s primetime win at Kansas City. It would have been a bigger night for Jones if he didn’t step out on a potential 60-yard touchdown pass on a sluggo route, as he appeared to just lose balance for a moment and stepped out at the ten-yard line to make it a 50-yard gain instead. And at the end of the game, Jones caught an out route for an easy completion against off coverage—the Chiefs did not appear to have a great gameplan of trying to defend running backs with linebackers throughout the night, and Jones made them pay multiple times. Through eight games, Jones is on pace for 228 carries for 932 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns along with 68 receptions for 710 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. The receiving numbers might decrease with Davante Adams (toe) returning soon), but Jones could be due to break more long plays as a runner moving forward.

Tyrell Williams (foot) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday.
While Williams is listed as questionable for Week 8, he was able to practice all week (albeit on a limited basis), and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden sounded optimistic about his No. 1 receiver being able to go. Williams would be a strong option in fantasy lineups if he’s active, which we think he will be; but keep in mind that Oakland kicks off in the later slate of games, so be ready to insert someone else into your fantasy lineup if Williams is out.

Tevin Coleman scores four touchdowns in 49ers’ win.
Coleman carried 11 times for 105 yards and three touchdowns along with two receptions for 13 yards and a touchdown in a 51-13 Week 8 rout of the Panthers. San Francisco’s offensive line, despite injuries, continues to play exceptionally well, and all Coleman needs is a crease with his elite speed and acceleration. On his 48-yard touchdown run, the former Falcon simply zoomed up the middle and past the defense untouched. It would have been an even bigger game if it was not such a lopsided contest, as Coleman did most of his damage in the first half. It’s pretty funny that people (typically know-it-alls on Twitter that probably do not even actually watch games) have insisted in the past that Coleman is not a good player, but he’s one of the best running backs in football and will continue to be an RB1/RB2 option in fantasy lineups.
10/28/19 - 08:49 AM ET
Jaylen Samuels (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Week 8.
Samuels was a full participant in practice all week, but it looks like the Steelers are going to make sure he feels OK in pregame warmups before declaring him ready to return. Samuels would be in the deep FLEX mix if active, but you’d need to have a backup plan from the Monday night game in case he’s inactive.
